NAME: Jason Todd
CANON: Arkham Knight
AGE: 19
CANON POINT: Post game

HISTORY: see game wiki page
PERSONALITY: Jason Todd has always had a rough life, no matter the universe. But in Arkham Knight, the question about what could be worse than death is finally answered. But even from the start, Jason was unwanted by Willis and Catherine Todd, who immediately tried to pawn him off as a newborn to pay back debts they owed to the mafia. Luckily, or not, their attempt was unsuccessful. But lacking even the familial attachment for and from his mother, Jason was more mercenary and unforgiving as a kid. At some point, he turned them both in to the crime families after them, and opted to live on the streets rather than continue to live that unloved life. He was more than resourceful enough to survive on the streets, and showed himself more willing to use force even at a young age.

However, despite a more morally ambiguous upbringing, Jason has never cared for the people who would prey on the innocent of Gotham, and has always struggled with the concept of why Batman wouldn't just kill them, when he was obviously capable. This led to larger conflicts between him and Bruce, especially when he became the second Robin. Jason's proclivity towards violence and action made him ill suited towards what he considered bandaid actions-- things like... evacuating people from an emergency, while Batman would focus on the villain. An imbalance he chafed under until he finally saw an opportunity to try and capture the Joker once and for all and leapt at it, so eager to do something, anything, that he was completely blind to the trap that the Joker had laid.

And that leads to the larger difference in his timeline: he was never the boy who died. He was the boy who was beaten, tortured, and isolated for a year. The boy who was slowly but surely brainwashed and conditioned to misremember his past and the circumstances leading up to his captivity at the Joker's hands. And while he survived, he was a shadow of himself. Indeed, the Joker's coup de grace that finally broke him was revealing that he had never, not once, had any free will in escaping from him. Even with the man on death's door, he had planned and orchestrated Jason's every action once he escaped from the Arkham Asylum basement. Rather than thinking he could ever take revenge on the Joker, or resume his life as it was before after he killed Joker and Bruce, Jason instead threw himself whole heartedly into working with villains he'd hated before, and let his anger, and hurt, and betrayal (with some definite brainwashed conditioning) guide most of his actions.

Which gets into the crux of where he ends the game: he has one moment of clarity, which lets him realize that his fast held belief that Bruce had been the one to hurt him was all a lie. While Jason was abused and brainwashed over the course of a year, and has always had a difficult, obstinate personality, he did love the feeling of family that he'd gotten from being the ward of Bruce Wayne, of working as a team. And Bruce calling to that part of Jason that just wants to be loved is more powerful than all of the conditioning that the Joker had done.

So, his sarcasm and wit are more than a little dulled now. Most of his personality has been based on a lie for so long, overwritten by trauma, that he's on the path of trying to re-learn who he actually is, and to undo the hollowing out that the Joker did.
CRAU: N/A

SPECIES: Human
APPEARANCE: he looks like jason todd with a literal j on his left cheek
SKILLS:
Investigating - Batman and Robin traditionally work together to solve crimes, and Jason has received a lot of training and education surrounding this sort of connect the dots and pattern recognition.
Peak human conditioning - Jason is extremely strong, fast, and maneuverable for your typical non-super human.
Tactical genius - Jason has received training from Deathstroke, so he is also good at anticipating the sorts of moves that others might make and how to counteract them as necessary.
21st Century hackiness - He hacks into Bruce's bank account and steals a bunch of money from him, so. You know, he's no Tim, but he gets by better than your average Joe.

NEW POWER: Going with personal toxicity. To start with at level one, he can essentially knock out or make someone ill by touching them when he wants-- obviously, higher potency the longer the touch happens. Or, if he feels an extreme negative emotion, something that would trigger a fight or flight response, the toxicity of direct touch increases exponentially.
POWER REASONING: Jason says in the game that he was hollowed out and filled back up with hate and pain and suffering. To differentiate this from the canon Jason, I think it'd be neat to explore this as making him literal poison.
